 My laptop properties report that I have 480 MB of RAM but the original spec
said 512 MB & I think it reported such when the machine was new.
Novices questions - 
Does the RAM degrade in any way i.e does the chip(s) become less efficient
over time.
If not, what could be eating my RAM. Is Service Pack 3 the culprit?

Sorry if this is obvious to all you out there but I am fairly new to delving
into the workings of Windows.
