I would suggest taking a copy of the current installation of  VirtualRPC
(in applications) and putting the copy somewhere else. You might
also want to consider burning a copy of the current installation to
a DVD (not a CD) so that you have a permanent backup.
 
You could then install the updates I supplied into the copy of
VirtualRPC and see how it behaves. This will leave the original
installation in it's current state.
 
As a final note, it's a little disheartening to have a customer
complain about a problem, then to provide that customer with
some code to test, only to find that the customer concerned
hasn't actually tried the new code to see if it helps with the
problem.
