Andrew is probably right. PS2 to USB is a bit nasty. Given the low
price and easy availability* of USB keyboards I would pick one
up and see if the problem resolves itself.

*Our local Instore (crap mart) sells keyboards for around £4. The
last few I purchased came from 7DayShop and cost 50p each in
their sale.
