I had a similar problem & it turned out to be caused by a programme on the
Windows side. The programme was PhraseExpress. If your using that.......

I eventually found  how I can turn off the offending part of the programme
through:-

Settings ->  Tools -> Settings -> Expert Options -> Route Enter & tab keys  
through Phrase Express (Untick & all is well)
