I would suspect that you are  suffering from the well known unplugged
module problem. Modules are unplugged  by number, but referenced
by name. So (as an example) you  might:

*unplug Internet

in the base version of RISC OS. The module  number of Internet
will be found (number n) and will then be  unplugged.

When you softload the new OS module n will still be  unplugged.
However n might now refer to a different module (for  example
the FontManager).

So under 4.02 press F12 and  type

*unplug

for each unplugged module type

*rminsert  (module name)

Once completed press Return twice to return to the desktop.  Now
set the softload and RISC OS 6 shopuld start on the next boot.

If  not you might need to ask RISCOS Ltd.
