[Virtualacorn-list] Moving Directories between mounts - Windows 7

I am using a copy of VRPC-Adjust on Windows 7, having transferred the VRPC
from an expired XP box. VRPC runs OS 6.10

Initially I only used the conventional HostFS::HardDisk4 mount as a single
pseudo hard disk, but then added further mounts to make use of the Windows
default folders My_Documents, My_Downloads etc. This works well and
everything operates as expected. However, all the relevant mounts are
located on the same physical hard disk, in this case C:\etc\.

A few days ago I attempted to add a further mount, but this time the
folder making up the new mount is located on a different physical drive to
the others - F:\ instead of C:\

For some unknown reason, I can Move files between mounts on different
disks, but not Directories, whether or not they are populated. On the PC
side the folders will Move between disks without restriction, again
whether or not they are populated.

As an experiment I created a further mount located on the F:\ drive. On
the RISC OS side I confirmed that I can Move directories between any
different mounts if the source and destination mounts are physically
located on the same drive, but not otherwise. Note that this problem does
not occur with files - only directories. Files can be Moved regardless of
the source or destination.

I can get around this problem by carrying out a Copy then a Delete when
Moving directories from one mount to another, but as a Move between
different media consists of those two operations anyway, I'm surprised the
OS can't do it for itself.

I had thought that the problem might be in the W7 permissions, but I'm
fairly sure that access to the relevant mounts is as free as it can be. In
the Security tab under the folder's Properties, all listed entities have
full Allow permissions set. If there are any further locations to set
permissions, I can't find them. There is a document on Microsoft's support
site http://support.microsoft.com/kb/326549 which gives advice on removing
the Read-Only attribute from folders, but although I've followed the
instructions in that document it hasn't made any difference.

Another inconvenience is that I can no longer make use of the Recyclone
bin, as that essentially consists of a Move operation from the source into
Boot:Choices.etc and fails if the source mount drive is not the same as
the drive on which Boot: is located.

I see from the list archives that there has been recent discussion of
Recyclone and the Windows Recycle Bin. I have never been able to make use
of the Windows bin from RISC OS; any Delete operation I carry out from the
RISC OS Desktop (or the command line) seems to bypass the Windows Bin and
is lost. Even under XP on a different machine, I would get the same
result. Is there a setting somewhere that I'm missing?

I would be grateful for any advice from others using multiple drive mounts
on W7 or who can suggest what I'm doing wrong.

regards
