To sort of conclude my bit of twit/blog.

I have now restored Printing via the server on all native Win OSs and
Ubuntu, but it has proven impossible to get VRPC  on any of the machines
to print.
(They obviously still print if I connect the Printer direct to the
computer USB)

If any kind soul thinks he/she might have some useful pointers, I'd
appreciate some private contact.
