[Virtualacorn-list] Keyboard compatibility

I was forced to buy an HP dv5-1250ej laptop here in Israel as my UK one
suddenly failed irrecoverably. I am running Virtual RPC-AdjustSA with
RISC OS 4.39 under Windows Vista Home on it. I have applied all the
available relevant updates including Service Pack 2. It is a dual language
machine and OS and I opted for the English installation.

A problem I have is that some keyboard keys under RISCOS either produce
output different from key markings or no output at all. I presume it is a
keyboard driver / mapping problem on the RISCOS side as the computer was
bought abroad and has essentially a modern US keyboard. On the Windows
side all keys work as marked OK.

On the PC side:
The Keyboard hardware properties are set to 'Standard 101/102=Key or
Microsoft Natural PS/2 Keyboard with HP QLB'.

'Regional and Language' > 'Keyboard and Languages' is set to 'English
..US'.

On the RISCOS side:
I have tried a few things including setting 'Country' to USA instead of
'UK' at the command line config, and in 'Boot Config', 'input', 'keyboard'
to 'USA' in place of 'UK(default)'

It is currently and for the results below set as:
In Status:
Territory 1
GMT
Timezone +2:0
Country UK

In config:
Input > Keyboard: USA

The effects I get are, from keys marked as:
 ~ and ; to left of '1' - No O/P
+ and = to the right of '-' and '_' - No O/P
{ and [ to the right of 'P' - No O/P
} and ] to the right again of that - { and [
: and ; to the right of 'L' - OK
" and ' to the right again of that - No O/P
| and \ to the right again of that - } and ]
another
| and \ to the left of 'Z' - No O/P

I think everything else is OK.

Any comments as to how to fix things, please? Also it is a real pain not
having a UK pounds key. Even using !Charsel there is no uk pounds char.
Maybe because I now have keyboard set to USA?

TIA Barry
